Former Mt. Elgon Member of Parliament Joe Kimkung has joined the race to unseat current Member of Parliament Fred Kapondi in the fourth coming general election.
Speaking at Masindet Village in Elgon ward, Mt. Elgon constituency former Member of Parliament said that he will be coming back soon to vie for parliamentary seat so as to bring order.
“I am coming soon to bring sanity and peace because Mt. Elgon is well known as a place of violence during elections.” He said.
Kimkung who served as a Member of Parliament for five years from 1997 to 2002 explained all his achievements while in leadership.
“I managed to bring all the sub tribes of Sabaot Community together and constructed different roads so I am capable of continuing to improve and built Mt. Elgon to a better image,” he added.
He called upon all aspirants especially who are in the same party, to carry out their campaign calmly before during and after general elections.
Kimkung encouraged politicians to emulate their days of politics when one would accept the results.
“During my time I used to compete with my colleague Member of Parliament Wilberforce Kisiero peacefully without fighting that’s what we want at the moment,” said the former legislator
