Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu led thousands of mourners to Ebuyalu village, Lugari ward in Lugari constituency to bid farewell to the late Keziah Maureen Ngaah, a daughter to the High Court Judge Justice Jairus Ngaah.
Keziah who was a law student at the Kenya School of Law died on 5th April, 2022 while revising for her final paper which she was supposed to re-sit on 8th April, 2022 in a sudden death that has left many with unanswered questions with the postmortem conducted by chief government pathologist failing to establish the cause of her death.

Addressing mourners, Justice Ngaah eulogized his daughter as a brilliant brain, firm, principled and hardworking who always believed in success.
He said her death was not only a blow to the family but to the entire country, saying she was following in his footsteps and that since her childhood she had aspired to serve in the Judiciary.
After graduating with a Bachelors degree, Second Class Honors Upper Division from the University of Nairobi in 2017, Keziah joined the Kenya School of Law in 2018 where she registered for 9 units and passed 8 of them.
He said she was preparing to re-sit examination in Criminal Litigation which was the only unit that was standing between her and her admission to the Roll of advocates.

On the eve of her death, Justice Ngaah said her daughter was in her bedroom studying for the unit and she spent some moments with her mother Joan Khasoa who had been encouraging her as she prepared for the examination before the mother retired to bed and left her reading.
He said in her entire life Keziah would always read late into the night and preferred sleeping during the day of which the family was used to adding that when they woke up on the morning of 5th April,2022, they did not suspect anything unusual could have happened as they left for work.
In the course of the day, he said the mother got concerned when her calls to Keziah went unanswered at around midday forcing her to rush back home only to find her lifeless body on her bed.

According to the pathologist’s findings, all the vital organs that he examined were found to be normal and nothing abnormal was detected in any of them which could be linked to her death.
The Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu who led other officials from the Judiciary in mourning Keziah, expressed her deepest condolence with the untimely demise of the young ambitious lawyer whom she said could have risen to great heights in the Judiciary.
The message of condolence from the Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court was read by Justice David Majanja.
