United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party nomination exercise has kicked off well in all the six hundred and fifty polling centers across Nandi County though late delivery of polling materials was witnessed in some of the polling centers in Tindiret and Engwen Constituencies respectively.
Speaking with West FM on phone, UDA Nandi County Returning officer Mrs. Veronicah Chebet cited that despite late distribution of voting materials in some polling centers, the exercise kicked off well and that polling stations were opened at exactly 7am in the morning and will be closed at 6pm.
Chebet has asked Nandi residents to turn out in large numbers and participate in the party primaries to choose their best leaders saying it is free and fair.
Security has been beefed up in all the polling centers and the main tallying center will be at Kapsabet Boys High School where results will be announced officially.
Nandi County has six Constituencies; Emgwen, Chesumei, Aldai Tindiret, Nandihils and Mosop with thirty wards and is bordering the counties of UasinGishu, Kakamega, Vihiga, Kericho and Kisumu.
The Governorship race has attracted six candidates namely; The sitting Governor Stephen Sang, Dr Cleophas Lagat, Peter Lelei, Antipas Tirop, Allan Kosgey and Elijah Lagat who are all squaring it with UDA tickets.
Senate seat has attracted three candidates namely; the sitting Senator Samson Cherargey, Alex Kosgey and Vivian Ruto while Woman Rep position has attracted among them Cynthia Muge, Stella Ruto, Ruth Bungei, Sarah Kosgey, Clarah Melly and others.
