A boy from Chenjeni village in Kabuchai Constituency has surprised many after walking for more than twenty kilometers to secure his admission chance at Namwela Boys High School in Bungoma West.
Isaac Natembea Wanyonyi who is an orphan says his father died long time ago and her sick mother could not afford transport fee to school.
“My father died when I was still young, I live with my siblings and mother who is on her sick bed, after seeing no hope I decided to trek to school so that I can explain to the principal about the situation.” The boy said.
The school deputy principal Mr. Patrick Ndombi said the boy got an opportunity to join the school after scoring 278 marks in 2021 KCPE, but his sick mother could not afford to take him to school.
“The boy arrived in the school compound wearing a blue T shirt and sandals carrying his documents and he was looking tired, his mother couldn’t afford to buy him a single pen,” Mr. Ndombi said.
He appealed to well wishers and political leaders from Kabuchai Constituency to intervene and help the boy achieve his dreams.
