The Deputy President’s move to name Mathira Member of Parliament Hon. Rigathi Gachagua as his running mate has been overwhelmingly received by Nandi residents who termed it as a perfect match.

The move has brought to an end the long period of heightened anxiety which had left many Kenyans with rhetoric questions of who could be picked for the along waited position.

Speaking to West FM, earlier in Kapsabet town, a section of Nandi residents said Ruto’s choice of running mate was the best as Gachagua has been central behind the scenes in his political negotiations with many partners and a strong supporter and defender of the DP thus he deserves it accordingly and as residents of Nandi are in support and will turn up in large numbers to vote for the team in the August polls.

Gachagua has been a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party Member and a great supporter and defender of the DP as he has been seen all over and heard defending him strongly.

Four names including Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru, National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi,  Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki and Mathira Member of Parliament Rigathi Gachagua had been fronted for Kenya Kwanza running mate position before it was narrowed down to only two participants Gachagua and Kindiki.
