The former Nandi governor Dr. Cleophas Lagat has appointed former Chesumei Member of Parliament Hon. Elijah Lagat as his running mate in the coming General Elections.
The duo will be vying for the gubernatorial position on an independent ticket after decamping from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party citing there was no credibility in the party nominations thus were rigged out in favour of the current sitting governor Stephen Sang.
Addressing journalists in Kapsabet, the duo revealed that they decamped from UDA to vie as independent claiming that UDA party primaries were doctored in favour of governor Sang on grounds that the nomination results didn’t match / reflect the figures of votes cast by the electorates.
“We are going to vie on an independent ticket because justice was not served and we are sure that we will win this seat by 10 am in August polls that are around the corner.”They all said
Other four independent gubernatorial aspirants in Nandi have resolved to back Dr. Cleophas Lagat who will face off with the current sitting Nandi governor Stephen Sang in August polls.
They have vowed to fight till the end to ensure their candidate wins by far, saying Nandi County as a whole needs mature experienced leaders to lead thus are a perfect match and are ready to go for it.
