A sorrowful mood has gripped Mungakha village in Lwandeti location, Matete Sub County after a 28 year old man was brutally murdered and his body dumped on the road.

According to the deceased’s mother Joyce Nelima, she left her son James Lumunyasi at home in a jovial mood as she went to the church Sunday morning, but when she returned she didn’t find him before she received information of his death Monday morning.

“When I returned from church I didn’t find him and we sat waiting for him till late in the night but all was in vain and later retired to bed. I woke up at around 12am and went to check his house if he had returned but still he wasn’t in, “said the mother.

She said she was informed of his death by one of her brothers in-law who had passed on the road and saw  his body lying lifeless on the side of the road.

She said the body had visible injuries indicating that he was killed and dumped there by unknown people.

Preliminary investigations have indicated that the man might have been killed elsewhere and the body carried and dumped at the scene in the night.

“My son is a peaceful man who doesn’t trouble anyone neither is he a drunkard, ” said the mother

The family led by his aunt Penina Katamu and sister Millicent Lumunyasi have appealed for thorough investigation into the incident and ensure the perpetrators are apprehended.

The body was removed from the scene by officers from Matete police station and taken to Webuye mortuary as they launched investigations into the incident.
