The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Nandi County branch has cleared several political candidates vying independently for various political seats including the Gubernatorial seat.
Among the gubernatorial aspirants cleared to vie is the former Nandi governor Dr. Cleophas Lagat together with his running mate former Emgwen MP Elijah Lagat who vowed to bring tremendous changes to the people of Nandi if elected for the position come August 9 General Elections.
Speaking outside IEBC offices in CITC grounds in Kapsabet after presenting their nomination papers where they were cleared to vie for the post, the duo cited that Nandi has lagged behind for long since the inception of the current sitting Governor whom to them has done nothing as all the projects started by the former Governor are still stagnating to date.
“We will complete all the pending projects first before embarking on any new project if we will be elected in August polls,” They said
Another independent gubernatorial aspirant Nick Tirop who was also cleared to vie for the position after meeting all the IEBC requirements said he chose to run independently to try his luck and that he will change the face of Nandi if given the opportunity urging Nandi residents to elect him in August in order to transform their lives.
Tirop was among the contesting candidates for the same position in 2013 General Elections wherehe vied on Kanu ticket but didn’t win.
The two will be facing off with the incumbent Stephen Sang (UDA) in the August polls.
