Webuye East dwellers have been cautioned against politics of clanism ahead of the 9th August General Elections.
In an exclusive interview
with West Media, Mr. Aggrey Murumba Namisi former KNUT Secretary General Webuye East who is also contesting for the Webuye East Parliamentary seat on ODM ticket said politics of clanism was like a time bomb awaiting to destroy the people of Webuye East Constituency.
In reference to the incumbent Member of Parliament who is not
contesting Hon. Engineer Alfred Wekesa Sambu, Namisi said people of Webuye East never considered the clan from which Hon. Sambu come from before they voted for him several times.
He remarked that people of Webuye East had the full trust in the
capabilities of the incumbent Member of Parliament that he could
deliver. He added that if people of Webuye East were influenced by a
few leaders to vote basing on clanism, then they risk to choose a
wrong leader and miss out on the development opportunities that a good leader who could have been chosen without basing on clans.
Agrrey Namisi who is trying his first stab at the ballot for the position of Member of Parliament for Webuye East also urged the church
to be on the forefront at preaching peace in Webuye East and the
entire country at large. He said the church will always play a bigger role
when it comes to preaching peace adding that leaders of the church
meet voters every worshiping day depending on the denomination.
He concluded by saying as a teacher he will prioritize education
under his tenure as a Member of Parliament incase people of Webuye
East gives him a chance to serve them. He says its only Webuye East
Constituency in Bungoma County that doesn’t have a Technical Training Institute, which he says will be among the main issues to be handled first.
He lauded the outgoing Member of Parliament Hon. Engineer Alfred Wekesa Sambu for his excellent work after serving the Constituency for fifteen years. He promises to build on the legacy to be left behind by the incumbent.
