The last five years there was so much interference between Bungoma County Assembly and Executive but as legislators a section of Bungoma MCAs stood firm to see that things move swiftly for the good of Bungoma people.
Speaking on West FM during Cross Fire show that was also aired on Mumbo FM, Ndivisi ward MCA Martin Pepela Wanyonyi said that PLWDs were being sidelined and seen as people who are not worthy but since the inception of devolution there has been equality and therefore he is proud of being elected as Ndivisi ward MCA despite his disability, for he said that it is not like in the past where there was stigmatization but happy since the narrative has been changed.
As Ndivisi ward MCA he said to have done two or three roads in each Sub Location in the seven Sub Locations, on health matters he said to have done his part and as he is moving ahead he has left a mark, he too said he played a bigger role in the Chetambe land issue where he took it up as an MCA and within a period of 8 months their people are not living in fear of being relocated.
He expressed his satisfaction for being Member of County Assembly that they passed the motion of empowering youths, PLWDs, Women where by funds were set aside for the same and many others. He revealed that they passed motions but the challenge was, most were not implemented by the Executive.
On the faction that was formed and named a summit alleged to have been formed to disrupt the Executive’s role him being a member, Hon. Wanyonyi said that County Assembly is independent that is why they came up with that group and he was the chief strategist and helped the County Assembly to play its roles well, it also helped to dismiss County employees who were employed without following proper procedure.
The summit comprised of the Leader of Majority who is also Tuuti- Marakaru ward MCA Joseph Nyongesa, Khalaba MCA Majimbo Kalasinga, Lwandanyi MCA Tony Barasa, Elly Tindi Tongaren MCA, Stephen Wamalwa Ndalu- Tabani ward and said it brought back sanity in the County.
On MCAs being bribed with as little as Shs.5, 000 to pass motions and support motions to impeach some County Assembly leadership, Pepela said that it was true but few of them stood on their rights and never fell into the trap.
On the comparison between the two Executive governments; one under the first Governor Ken Lusaka and the current Governor Wycliffe Wangamati where he was the MCA in both governments, he said the Lusaka government had respect, fidelity and trust of the County Assembly which was high and there was a clear separation of power between the Executive and the County Assembly.
He admitted that the two governments can’t be compared on development record since the initial government was to put up structures in place but the second government found everything in place so it was just to implement and start off development.
On what Ndivisi ward residents are proud of him for having served them for the last five years, Ndivisi MCA said his ward has seven Sub Locations as compared to the two other wards but said he is proud despite that, he has constructed roads in each Sub Location, he has put up Sinoko Sub County hospital, Khaoya dispensary maternity ward, Namarambi dispensary, construction of ECDE classes, installed lighting on markets; Misikhu, Makuselwa, Ndivisi though they have challenge with the County government since the lights got damaged and have never been repaired, fair bursary allocation, Ndivisi ward has been profiled and now known in the whole County and this is due to his efforts.
He said it is the MCA who identifies the project through public participation, does procurement process and ensures that a contractor is paid and it is the MCA who does 80% before the project is done. Therefore, said there is no project that is said to belong to the Governor.
Ndivisi legislator said that Devolution brought a lot of money and urged those vying for MCA seat to know their roles of serving common mwananchi but not being manipulated by the Executive and told them to try and work hard to see that they build their names and leave legacy but to remember one thing that they will not be in the County Assembly forever.
On Webuye East politics, he said many candidates are struggling to be endorsed but when one looks around there is nothing they have done for Webuye East residents as he added that Kenya’s politics has gone away from endorsement but ones track record.
He revealed that Hon Sambu did his part as he already told his people who to elect as Webuye East MP for he is already known and waiting to be sworn in on 9th August.
Hon. Wanyonyi who is eyeing Webuye East parliamentary seat and among front runners said Hon. Sambu called him and they shared a lot on Webuye East politics and gave him direction on how to lead his people.
On why he wants to be MP, he said that he feels he has done much for Ndivisi people and it was a training session for him, therefore felt that he wanted to extend his service to the Constituency as a whole and he looked around and saw that all aspirants who were contesting for the seat had no clear record on what they have done for Webuye East people so have nothing to show off.
On his manifesto as Webuye East MP, Wanyonyi said Webuye East is among the youngest Constituency and has no single tarmac road therefore he said after being elected the first tarmac road will be from Misemwa-Ndivisi-Malomonye- Furoi- Nabuyole-Webuye town, he said WEC has no single TTI therefore Webuye East will have a first one two to three years when he will be in office, many homes are not connected to electricity so he will work on that, Webuye East has a small population and therefore get same allocation as other Constituencies like Kanduyi therefore he said will use the small population that all students who apply for bursaries through CDF they get, Webuye East gets same allocation as other wards despite Ndivisi ward having seven Sub Locations therefore in the next boundaries review he will ensure that Ndivisi ward is split into two wards so that Webuye East has four wards. He also said that he will partner with KMTC and TTIs to enroll students who won’t qualify for university slots.
Having remained with 22 days to election, Wanyonyi assured his supporters of his victory so not to doubt him since he is the only Kenya Kwanza candidate in the Constituency. He stated that they are seven candidates vying therefore told Webuye East residents to gauge who has a good track record and probably will find that it is Martin Pepela Wanyonyi.

On stigmatization on PLWDs, he said that disability is not inability and that has been shown with him and therefore urged any parent who has a child living with disability not to hide that child but give him/her education and said that if he was hid and denied education he could not be where he is.
He said that his opponents insult him for being disabled but that does not stop him from his focus as he urged them to tell Webuye electorates their agenda but not attack him on his skin color but look on his track record.
He attributed the high cost of living to the handshake and Azimio, therefore warned Kenyans that if they make a mistake of electing Azimio government nothing will change instead encouraged them to elect Kenya Kwanza government under the DP William Ruto to get relief.
He urged Webuye East residents to consider him on 9th August and elect him as their second MP since he is ready to defend and fight for them in the national assembly the way he has done in the County Assembly.
