Political analyst, strategic communications adviser and renown journalist Dr. Barrack Muluka has urged Kenyans to exercise their democratic right during the August General Elections.
Speaking on West Fm during Suala Nyeti programme, Dr. Muluka said elections give citizens a chance to elect leaders of their choice and non participation in the exercise may lead to wrong leaders.
Moreover, he decried the high cost of living experienced in the country that has led to high prices of basic commodities like sugar and cooking oil.
He further rubbished claims that the high cost of living has resulted from Ukraine – Russia war and stated that the situation existed before the war erupted.
Muluka also praised Kenya Kwanza manifesto as a viable agenda for the Western region residents. Promises such as the revival of sugar mills, improvement of road networks among other issues.
He condemned President Uhuru Kenyatta for his involvement in active succession politics and using state resources to fund Azimio campaigns.
He also dismissed the Azimio manifesto by stating that it has very little to offer for the Western region residents saying that they lack a written document highlighting their power sharing formula.
Muluka advised Western region voters to elect leaders with a high level of integrity, practical manifestos and the will to serve them.
Muluka termed the Western region voters as tricky since they do not vote as a block during elections.
He also said that Western voters do not follow directives from opinion leaders hailing from the region adding that Western leaders are easily influenced by leaders from other regions who deceive them to vote for them at the expense of renown leaders from the region.
Muluka praised the outgoing Jubilee Government for the development projects that it has undertaken in the Western region such as infrastructure and the health sector led by CS Mutahi Kagwe whom he praised for his efficient service delivery.
However, he criticized the massive corruption in the Jubilee Government and blamed President Uhuru for not taking initiatives to fight it effectively.
He highlighted scandals such as KEMSA and the MOBILE CLINICS scandal.
He bashed leaders referring to Deputy Ruto as corrupt and urged them to table their evidence to the relevant authorities for prosecution.
Muluka encouraged subsequent governments to analyze the Bethwel Kiplagat report and exercise the recommendations in it.
He reiterated the need for electing leaders who have viable economic and development agenda for the Western region.
