Kakamega County Commissioner John Ondego has called on civil servants in leadership positions to cultivate harmony with staff under them.
Speaking in Lugari Sub County, Ondego said heads of departments and agencies in government should always bring close staff under them for efficient delivery of public service.
Commissioner Ondego said leaders in public service are well trained, enriched with vast experience that should allow them build team work in their places of work.
Ondego noted that the government multi agency approach of service delivery which brings together Ministries, Departments and Agencies had proved improved service delivery in the country.
However, Ondego also asked the civil servants to respect their seniors and always strive to deliver service to the people through teamwork coordination.
The CC praised retiring Lugari Deputy County Commissioner William Lenaremo for his resilience and hard work while ensuring the people of Lugari get government deserved services during his four years stay.
In his speech, Lenaremo singled out teamwork with government officers and local leadership for the success in government service delivery.
“I discovered there was a gap between public servants and local leadership…it was during this time I started the journey to bridge the gap,” Lenaremo said while emphasizing the need for local leadership to work closely with civil servants for improved service delivery to the locals.
Outgoing DCC asked civil servants not to fear transfers as it was the only way of understanding different Kenyan cultures, environment and hence building experience for efficient government service delivery.
“I thank my seniors during my entire public service period for allowing me to serve Kenyan people from different cultures,” he added.
Lenaremo also advised present civil servants to stick to the government duty reporting hours if they wanted to excel in their work.
He appealed with the civil servants, local leaders and the residents to work closely with the incoming Deputy County Moses Gicharu to continue with service delivery which includes fast tracking issuing of title deeds to schools which is one of the greatest impediments to their development.
