Residents of Nandi hills town in Nandi East woke up to a shocking news after a one day old baby placed inside a box was found abandoned at Nandi hills market in one of the stalls.
Getrude Jepkosgey together with his father spotted the child rubbed well in a box abandoned in their stall as they were opening up their work where they tried to find out and they realized the child was alive and kicking.
Getrude at first thought that someone had left a luggage in her place of business without her consent but to her surprise she found out that it was an abandoned one day old baby whom she took it to the hospital where she was confirmed to be of good health and well kicking without any problem.
She revealed that this is a second incident happening in the region where cases of abandoned children are on the rise urging the security apparatus to ensure they unmask those abandoning their babies in such a manner so as to face the full wrath of the law.
The baby is still monitored at the facility and reports have been recorded at the police for any leads and a quick action against the culprit.
Residents have strongly condemned the incident appealing to the chiefs and the security apparatus to ensure whoever left that child there is traced and brought to book for action against negligence on such a young soul so as to act as an example to such women leaving their kids in such a manner.
