Forest cover is believed to be the major source of rain worldwide. Deforestation, however, has been practiced by many people around the globe thus bringing about negative results of desertification to the eco-system.
Youths from Bumula ward of Bumula Sub-County have come together with a core aim of fighting desertification by planting trees in many parts of the Sub-County.
“A group of about five members’ tour areas to sensitize the inhabitants about the benefits of tree planting and initiate tree nursery bed preparation which later on helps residents get the seedlings.” Said John Masinde, a leader of Bumula youth Forest cover Association.
The county government of Bungoma has been urged to help these youths achieve their dream of making Bumula a green Sub-County.
