Residents of Magemo village, Mihuu ward, Webuye East Constituency in Bungoma County woke up to a rude shock after a 22 year- old man was allegedly stabbed by his friend for trying to solve a domestic dispute between his two friends who were quarreling.
The deceased was identified as Kakai Wanjala, 22.
In an Interview with the press on Friday, the eye witness and the business woman at Lumuli market, Phanice Juma said that the dispute ensued on Friday evening after two friends started quarrelling at Lumuli market.
“My customer was just relaxing taking porridge which I had served him on the market after his daily hustle but afterwards the dispute ensued which attracted him to separate them,” she noted.
Mrs. Juma pointed out that the suspect was hiding the knife in the pocket that he used to attack the deceased, he stabbed him to death.
“I didn’t understand the intention of that man, they have never quarreled with my brother, I want to ask the police to take a stern action against him. This is very bad,” she appealed.
She added that the police are aware of the matter.
David Juma Khamala, the father of the deceased condemned the incident calling on the police and relevant bodies to do speedy investigations.
Mr. Khamala’s sentiments were echoed by Pastor James Wafula who decried high cases of indiscipline in the region.
“I want to ask the police to increase patrons in the area and arrest the law breakers,” Mr. Wafula stated.
Mr. Khamala said that his efforts to fight for his son’s life bore no fruits as the deceased died while receiving medication at Lugulu Mission Hospital in Webuye East.
The incident was confirmed by Magemo location assistant chief Joseph Wafula who said that the police have started investigations into the murder as the suspect is detained at Webuye police station.
The area assistant chief called on family members to report such cases to the relevant authorities for help rather than taking the law into their own hands.
“I ask members of the family to find amicable ways of solving domestic disputes,” he said.
