Nandi residents have asked Nandi County Government under the leadership of Governor Stephen Sang to consider feting Double Olympic World Champion Eliud Kipchoge for his stunning performance in Berlin Marathon whereby he made history by breaking his own record.
Speaking to Journalists in Kapsabet, the residents cited that Kipchoge deserves a grant home coming after smashing his own World record by thirty seconds cloaking a time of two hours, one minute and nine seconds (2:01:09) in Berlin Marathon on Sunday.
Kipchoge beats his previous World record time of two hours, one minute and thirty nine seconds of Berlin Marathon 2018 and made history in the World being the best ever fastest Marathoner.
He made history as the fifth athlete in the World to break his own World record after legendary Briton Jim Peres and three others respectively putting Kenya in the map of World athletics this being a stunning performance thus Nandi residents feel it is good to be feted.
Although the County has been trying to do that to the elite athlete but he (Eliud Kipchoge) does not want terming it as a waste of resources that could have been used for other important things.
Mark Korir came in second position with a time of two hours, five minutes and twenty five seconds while Ethiopian Tadu Apake finished third in 2:06:28 respectively.
Abel Kipchumba finished in fifth position after cloaking a time of 2:06:49.
