The Jikaze Self Help Group under Naitiri CBO affiliate of Mumbo FM Salaams Club has assisted 11 students to pay fees after the members being unable to pay fees for their children due to a number of reasons, poverty being among them.
Led by Isaiah Khisa, chairperson for education Naitiri CBO among other leaders across the constituency emphasized on the need for every child having access to quality education. He noted that the primary aim of forming the self help groups was to assist its members achieve various objectives education being the key aspect.
Poverty among other reasons like low income rate among residents in Tongaren has adversely affected a number of students who come from poor families as they rarely stay in school due to lack of school fees and failure to having access to bursaries due to alleged favoritism.
Alex Khisa, Chairperson of Bungoma North CBO urged the area Member of Parliament Dr. John Murumba Chikati in collaboration with Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka and elected Members of County Assembly to work together by ensuring students from poor families have access to bursaries so that they may remain in school.
Members whose children benefited appreciated the efforts put in place by their leaders to see into it that their children have access to education for the betterment of their future. They however, relentlessly called upon elected leaders to embrace equality in bursary allocations.
