Sirisia Constituency MP John Waluke has been released today on a cash bail of 10million pending an appeal of his 67 years jail term. The legislator has been released today on Friday, 18th November 2022. Waluke has also been granted an alternative of 20million bond with surety pending determination of his appeal.
Waluke was found guilty for embezzlement of funds in 2020 thus sentenced 67years in jail. The legislator was given an alternative of paying a fine of 1billion.
Waluke was jailed with his associate Grace Wakhungu for allegedly defrauding ksh 297 million from the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) in 2004. The duo was found guilty by an anti- corruption court in 2020.
In signed affidavits, the legislator urged the court to release him, noting that he risked losing his seat given the number of sittings he has missed.
