The first ever business flight took off from Wilson Airport to Kakamega County Airport on Wednesday 14th December, 2022.

The launch of business flight from Nairobi to Kakamega County is expected to affect the people of Western region positively. The people include tourists and those in business who will take advantage of the flights to enhance and take their businesses to the next level.

The flight under the Skyward Company which will be making one flight from Nairobi to Kakamega and back to Nairobi was officially launched by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking during the launch at Wilson Airport, Gachagua emphasized the commitment of Kenya Kwanza government in ensuring that Kenyans from Western region and other regions get better transport infrastructure to enable them engage in their daily activities with ease.

The Deputy President said that with flights now flying from Nairobi to Kakamega and back to Nairobi, the move will open up business opportunities and easy travel to the people of the larger Western region.

He added that for a long time the people of Western region remained behind due to lack of good transportation infrastructure.

“As Kenya Kwanza government, we are committed to ensure that such initiatives are initiated in different parts of the country so that all Kenyans are able to enjoy new business opportunities and boost the economy of this ,” the second in command said.

On his part during the official launch, the transport Cabinet Secretary Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen said the government will continue to renovate and upgrade different airports in various parts of the country to enable Kenyans travel with ease and open up business opportunities.

Chairman of Skyward express Mr. Mohammed Abdi said that the company will continue to start flights from Nairobi to different parts of the country.

People living in the larger Western region have for a very long time depended on flights from Kisumu Airport and Eldoret which costs many in terms of finance and time wastage.

The launch of new flights from Nairobi to Kakamega County is a challenge to the Western people to take use of the opportunity to engage in business and grow the economy of the region.
