Sipande residents in Mautuma ward Lugari Sub County  benefited from a free medical outreach that was organized by Pamela Nekesa Anyona, the spouse to the area Member of County Assembly Charles Ogachi Anyona.

The outreach catered for a variety of health issues such as vaccination of children under the age of 5 years who had defaulted vaccination, jigger treatment, antenatal clinic, free medical consultation among other services.
Mrs. Anyona said she took the outreach to Sipande to help residents who are forced to travel long distances to medical facilities.
“The residents here are forced to travel either to Mbagara or Turbo which are about 10 kilometers away. The long distances make  some of them give up and do not take their children to complete vaccinations and also themselves don’t go to hospital when they get ill, expectant mothers don’t attend clinics that’s why I  saw it wise to bring here the medical camp,” said Mrs.Anyona.

She however urged Mautuma residents to visit health facilities and undergo screening to establish their health conditions so that serious illnesses can be detected early and be treated.
Mrs. Anyona who reiterated her commitment in supporting health programs said that ignoring diseases puts people in danger and raises the cost of disease medication.
“It is essential to undergo regular screening in order to identify illnesses at an early stage and ensure that we acquire proper medication earlier to avoid serious health complications, ” she said.
Her sentiments were echoed by Moraa, a health official who added that it was crucial to prioritize regular health screening for a variety of health issues in order to avoid discovering diseases at an advanced stage that necessitates more serious medical attention to treat.
She thanked Mrs. Anyona for her kind gesture and for putting the health of Mautuma residents first.
On his part, Sipande dispensary chairman Wycliffe Silali appealed to the County government of Kakamega to operationalize the dispensary to save residents for travel long distances to seek medical attention.
