Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has assured people with special needs that his government will mainstream the disabled community in all programs.
In his remarks , while addressing disability leadership in Kimilili, Lusaka confirmed that the County Government is in the process of drafting a disability policy to ensure people with disability benefit from the County Government projects.
“We must mainstream people with disability in all our programs.We want to empower you fully. We are going to put money in your pockets to improve your livelihoods.” He assured
The County Boss observed that his next official appointments will factor in people with disability, citing the finance department which has been well represented by the CEC, a member of the disabled community.
“You overwhelmingly voted me into office, it’s my time to scratch your backs. It’s now my duty to put a smile on your faces. Am going to ensure you’re well captured in my next appointments,” promised Lusaka.
He further urged people with special needs to come out and be counted in matters development, promising to champion for their development needs by ensuring they benefit from an all round development system.
“Am preview to the fact that people with disability are often marginalized and neglected. In remedy to this, I will set a side a day specifically to cater for your programmes in areas of agriculture, scholarship and bursaries, tenders and policies”, he affirmed
Governor Lusaka called upon the disabled community to form Saccos and groups in order to benefit from the disability funds among others.
Lusaka assured them that they are exempted from paying the County levy for traders.
