Three gold miners at Karebe Gold mine in Chemase area Tindiret Constituency, Nandi County are feared dead after allegedly attacked by suspected workers of a rival Gold mine in the region.
According to Chemase/Chemelil Ward MCA Hon. Martin Douglas, the rival Miners took massive blasting explosives to the mining region which is 3 kilometers underground killing the three miners instantly.
The blast happened at around evening time on Monday whereby huge blast was heard from the mine.
“After setting the explossives, they ran away on realizing that lives had been lost”, Hon Douglas added.
Efforts to reach the CEO of the firm Jeremy Froome on the incident proved as futile after saying that the Firms Board of Directors is set to issue a comprehensive statement concerning the incident tomorrow and that of the security apparatus in the region didn’t succeed due to poor network.
The gold mine company (Karebe) which is situated in the escarpments of Nandi is licensed by the Kenyan Government to conduct its business and has been facing a lot of misfortunes and challenges since last year whereby its vehicles, machinery and staff houses were torched by arsonists.
The rival minors want the British firm be hounded out of Chemase area in Tindiret region despite being licensed by Kenyan Government to conduct its operations.
