A decomposed body of an unknown middle aged man was retrieved from Kipkaren river in Mwivona village, Chekalini location, Lugari Sub County.
The body was discovered floating on the water by a young man who had taken animals to drink water in the river Thursday afternoon.
“I saw an object floating on the water from a distance moving towards where I was, on careful looking, I discovered it was a human body before I informed two men who were bathing on the lower part of the river, ” said Ronny Wendo.
The body was retrieved through combined efforts of locals and police officers from Chekalini patrol base.
Confirming the incident Musembe sub location assistant chief Pamela Siangu said the body might have been carried by water from elsewhere saying there was no report of a missing person in her area of jurisdiction.
She appealed to anyone who might have lost a male relative or friend to visit Webuye Hospital Mortuary and help identify the body.
