As the world commemorated the water day, Bungoma County ministry of water and natural resources department through the County CECM Herbert Kibunguchy has vowed to help the residents access water saying they are targeting to raise the current accessibility of water from 27% to 50 %.
Speaking during the commemoration at Bungoma County headquarters, Kibunguchy said it is unfortunate that the County accessibility is below 50% giving an assurance that each of the 45 wards will be getting one borehole every year.
He added that the water storage will also be changed from plastic to steel saying the containers will last longer.
Kibunguchy further disclosed that they will be using the solar pumps as opposed to the normal pumps saying they are durable and time saving saying the water needs to be pumped some from 100 meters deep saying and it may be tiresome to use the normal pump.
The tough talking Cecm also cautioned the Nzowasco Company against poor service delivery saying together with other stakeholders they will work on streamlining the company to ensure a commendable output to residents.
He further said that they have been using a lot of money to pump water to Bungoma town saying they are considering using an alternative source that will use less money to pump water to residents of Bungoma town.
Bungoma County assembly water committee chairman Hon Edwin Opwora expressed the commitment of the committee to working with the government to ensure a remarkable output to residents.
