Kenyans will have to pay more for fuel prices after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) set new increased prices of fuel per litre

The change in prices which takes effect from 15th May 2023 to 14th May 2023 will have Kenyans feel the pinch in their pockets because unlike previous months, retail prices have been increased.

Having removed subsidies on diesel and kerosene, retail prices have increased by ksh.3.40 for Super petrol, ksh.6.40 for diesel and ksh.15.19 for kerosene

Through a statement released on 14th May, EPRA says the new prices are as a result of weighted average cost of imported refined petroleum products and that the average landed cost of super petrol increased by 8.63% while that of diesel decreased by 2.51% and  kerosene decreased by 1.13% hence the change in prices.

The new fuel prices come at a time when Kenyans are grappling with high cost of living with the increase in prices likely to proliferate prices of other essential goods and services.

Under the Kenya Kwanza administration, EPRA has been maintaining existing prices of  fuel per litre but this is the first major upward twist that has stirred mixed reactions from Kenyans.

The latest fuel prices might cause an increase in the cost of transportation of goods and services which has a ripple effect on the price of other commodities

Below is a summary of some towns and the maximum allowed petroleum pump prices:
