The Government through the Ministry of ICT has started a campaign of connecting digital companies of 1450 within the country to improve on digital connectivity that will change in demographics of Jitume Youth Digital empowerment digital world
The CS for ICT Eliud Owalo spoke this after launching the ICT hub in Kitale Polytechnic stating that the major aim of the Government was to build digital super highways that will help in provision of
opportunities that are in other countries as this will be necessitated by building several digital hubs in every County and wards.
He says the government will allow business people access several services in government institutions without necessarily visiting respective offices thus avoiding manual process of application and offering of services in Government offices.
The CS appealed to youths to take opportunities in investing in the digital world by connecting with the outside world calling upon them to desist using ICT wrongly but instead engage in meaningful contributions that will catapult their living standards.
He disclosed that the Government was working on modalities of having locally assembled smartphones that will help youths participate vigorously in terms of communication claiming that there were potential opportunities while working with the phones.
The CS noted that the Government will work with County Governments that will help cascade up to ward levels in order for every part of the country to be felt in terms of digital connectivity.
The CS was accompanied by Elgeyo Marakwet Governor who is also ICT chair in the Council of Governors Wesley Rotich who assured the national Government of co-operation with all the counties in realizing the full potential of data connectivity that will aid in digital space within the country.
He disclosed that in conjunction with the national Government, County Governments will provide avenues where digital hubs will be set up to help improve the data connectivity in the country calling upon all
youths to use the opportunities in engaging in meaningful activities that will help them improve their skills as well as job markets.
On his part, Trans Nzoia Senator also chair of ICT in the Senate Allan Chesang appealed to the youths in the country to take the initiatives of digital connectivity and explore on matters job availability both
internal and external markets and stop over relying on white color jobs that he stated was minimal.
