There is need for Counties to reflect on the value chain and agree on the best opportunities in these value chains for commercialization and food security Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has said.
Speaking during the agriculture stakeholders Workshop, under the auspices of the National Value Chain Development Lusaka who is also the Chair of Agriculture committee in the COG said as stake holders they will ensure that the Project (NAVCDP) achieves it planned impact.
“As we gather here today, not just as delegates from National and County
Governments but as proud Kenyans who carry the vision for the food security in this country. We must therefore consult and cooperate and more so be intentional in our commitment and actions towards the country dream to achieve food security, meeting the needs and expectations of the farmers, and the shared vision of building a future where prosperity is not an exclusive privilege but a shared reality for all Kenyans, “said Lusaka.
The NAVCDP project is being implemented across thirty-four Counties.
“We are grateful for the financial assistance provided by the World Bank, for their faith in our capabilities, and for their invaluable role in supporting us to build robust value chains that can propel our economy forward.” The County CEO uttered
He lauded previous projects supported by World Bank like NARIGP and KCSAP which were a great success story.
Lusaka further called on Counties to be careful while deliberating on the various value chains bearing in mind unique needs and potential of individual Counties.

“Each County has its strengths and capabilities; let us harness them. The challenge before us today is to ensure that we develop diverse, resilient, and profitable agricultural value chains that are inclusive, sustainable, and capable of delivering,” he advised
Present during the meeting were Mr. Kello Harsama, Principal Secretary, State Department of Crop Development, Ms. Mary Mwiti, Chief Executive Officer, Council of Governors,World Bank Team, County Executive Committee members in charge of Agriculture and Chief Officers in charge of Agriculture among others .
