The Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning Njuguna Ndung’u has appointed Humphrey Wattanga Mulongo as the Commissioner General of Kenya Revenue Authority.
In a Kenya Gazette notice dated 22nd August 2023, Commissioner Mulongo will hold the position for a period of three years effective August 22, 2023.
For the past six years, Mulongo was serving as a Commissioner on the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA), then Vice Chair.
Mulongo replaced Githii Mburu, who resigned in February after serving as KRA boss for three years and seven months.
He takes over from Commissioner of Domestic Taxes Rispah Simiyu, who was serving in an interim position following the exit of Mburu.
The new KRA boss holds Master of Business Administration which he acquired in Wharton School, University of Pennyslvania, Philadelphia, USA, majored in Information Systems Strategy and Economics (ISSE), he also holds Bachelors in Biochemical Sciences from Havard University, Cambridge, USA.
He is the Managing Director of Meghraj Capital Limited (MCL).
He is the Direcor of Nordic Impact Fund (NIF), Copenhagen, Denmark, the position he has served from 2016 and Director for Investment Committee Member of Kenya Climate Ventures (KCV) Limited from 2019.
He served as Commissioner and Vice Chairman of Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) from 2017-2022. He was also a senior partner of AFCORP Investments, Johannesburg, South Africa from 2004-2017.
