President William Ruto officially opened the 8th Devolution Conference that is taking place at Eldoret Sports grounds from 15th to 19th of August which marks ten years since devolution governments were implemented and his main message was his commitment to making sure it succeeds.
In his address to the delegates, Ruto said major milestones have been realized since the inception of County governments saying many have been able to feel the development at the grass root level.
He also promised to have a fully devolved function of all the functions constitutionally devolved saying he is committed to make sure devolution is a success in the country.
However, the Commander in Chief cautioned against rampant issues of corruption saying it is devastating to note that some officers in the County governments have taken advantage of looting and called upon the relevant institutions to take action against those implicated.

Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru who is also the chair of the Council of Governors thanked the President for speedy disbursement of County funds saying it has been able to cater for development as well as other needs of the Counties.
However, she called upon the President to check on the remuneration of Members of the County Assembly saying their needs need to be looked into.
Senate Speaker Amason Kingi applauded the existence of County governments saying it has been able to spur development up to the grass root level.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi expressed his confidence in the existence of County governments saying many have been able to realize development.
