Bungoma County people have been appreciated for electing Kenya Kwanza in the past election.
Speaking during an interdenominational prayer service at Uwanja Ndege in Kanduyi Constituency, Bungoma County, the President of the Republic of Kenya Dr. William Ruto promised to work hard and change the face of Bungoma, urged them to unite, support him to achieve Bungoma’s dream and promised to work with them and asked them to avoid egocentrism and ensure that Kenya is moved to the next level.
Ruto said his pleasure is how leaders will change the tune and ensure the economy is improved so that a common mwananchi benefits urging them to prioritize the interests of the Kenyan people.
He appreciated the County Assembly of Bungoma for putting up a very decent adminisration block as he lauded it for prioritizing people issues through its central focus on public participation saying he will equip it with needed facilities as he thanked the County government for building a 300 bed capacity maternal and child hospital at Bungoma County Referral Hospital as a way of promoting the Universal Health Care as part of his agenda. He assured Kenyans of implementation of UHC so that it works since it has been an agenda from 2007 but never actualized in the past two regimes.
He urged the MPs to pass a motion of reducing the NHIF monthly contribution of shs 500 by a common mwananchi to shs 300.
In support of infrastructure and market for business people, more 10 markets will be put up across the County; Chwele, Webuye, Bukembe, Naitiri, Cheptais, Malakisi, Mateka, Chepkube and told leaders to identify more places to put up more markets.
He said the government has reduced the price of semen so that farmers can use Artificial Insemination to cater for high milk production and promised to bring 25 milk coolers before December in Bungoma County and tasked the Governor to identify places where they will be situated.
He said his target in Bungoma County is to add more subsidized fertilizer bags from 3000 to 7000 and all this is to have food security and reduce food importation. Ruto said by increasing productivity, it is when the price of maize will automatically reduce and this is done by the distribution of subsidized fertilizer to farmers.
The Head of State said the Matulo Airstrip will be upgraded to be functional and asked the Governor to buy 30 more acres as he said the Kanduyi one is in town therefore will be used for the town’s expansion.
He said the government has plans to commit public resources to develop cane production in the region as he said the government alone is not capable of handling the sugar factory issues but it is thinking of a formula of bringing on board private sector to revive Nzoia Sugar fully as he firmly said that Kenya Kwanza government is the only government that will sort out the problem once and for all saying as a government they have a duty to protect all public resources.
Ruto said he is ready to create an office for the opposition leader at the National Assembly to oversee the government and insisted that what he won’t accept is destruction of property and loss of lives through demonstrations.
The Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua thanked Bungoma County people for playing a key role for voting in the Kenya Kwanza government.
He appreciated Bungoma people for being welcoming and embracing all tribes who have settled in the County for business purposes.
He announced the second phase of registration of farmers to get subsidized fertilizer therefore urged farmers to turn up in large numbers and register so that they benefit.
He also said the government is still registering beneficiaries of the Inua Jamii.
He said Wetangula and Musalia analysed the Kenyan politics and made a bold step to lead their people to the government, therefore wanted all Westerners to rally behind them, unite and speak one voice so that they benefit on the resources provided by the government as he told them not to accept to be a centre of experiment in every election.
The second in command said he, together with the President, are not in campaign mood as it is being said by their opponents but they are reaching out to the people who elected them and they will still move around the country to initiate, launch and commission projects.
Cabinet Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi appreciated the President for trusting Western people and planned a 5 day tour in the region as he revealed that the Head of State will be hosting a Cabinet meeting in Kakamega on Tuesday.
He said that today the country is celebrating 13 years after adoption of the new constitution and thanked him for adhering to it.
He expressed his satisfaction to all elected leaders from the region for showing unity despite being elected by different political parties and urged them to continue working together as it is only in unity that the region will achieve development.
He urged them not to accept to be used to boycott President’s meetings since election is a gone case and Ruto was elected as the President and they should work with him, support his government for the benefit of the people who elected them.
He dismissed allegations from a section of leaders that there is a supremacy battle between him and Wetangula saying each one of them has his roles in the Kenya Kwanza government therefore told them to stop such propaganda and leave them to discharge their mandate.
The Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula appreciated the President for sparing time to come for a developmental tour in the region as he thanked him for the agenda he has for the region in the five day tour.
He appreciated the Head of State for selecting Bungoma County as a host of Madaraka Day celebrations in 2024.
He urged him to harmonize maize prices due to the bounty harvest farmers have obtained after using the subsidized fertilizer so that they can benefit from their farm produce.
He revealed plans of the government for the revival of Nzoia Sugar factory so that it gets a new model for the benefit of its people.
COTU Secretary Francis Atwoli talked of ways of improving the economy by using available tourist attraction sites in the country as he gave examples of River Nzoia, the Ikhonge Murwe Crying stone in Kakamega as he urged Governors in the sugar zone to agree and come up with one big sugar company to serve the region and told them not to be selfish terming Nzoia, Mumias, Sony Sugar etc as obsolete companies.
He told leaders to start thinking big and initiate projects to benefit Western people.
Atwoli said those leading demonstrations across the country; Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, former Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa and others have no offices therefore urged elected leaders to shun demonstrations and work for the people who elected them.
Busia Governor Dr. Otuoma asked Western leaders to show what they have brought for their people and stop relying and rotating around factories that were put up 50 years ago lamenting how their people are suffering because of their inefficiency but think outside the box and improve the economy of the region by initiating long lasting projects.
He hit on Western leaders for demanding projects year in year out from every government and themselves doing nothing for their people leaving them in anguish as they pretend to be fighting for them on already established factories and infrastructure put up by other leaders in the past.
He said as leaders from Western they have a potential of improving the economy of the region through their various positions.
Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka told those who oppose him to give him ample time to steer development and improve the economy of the County as he lauded the President for his hardwork and dedication to better and improve the livelihoods of Kenyans. He also echoed other leaders’ unity of purpose message and promised to drive the President’s Bottom Up Transformational Agenda
