Bungoma County Health and Sanitation CEC Dr. Andrew Wekesa Wamalwa has assured residents of Bungoma County that his department has devoted its efforts in ensuring that health services in Bungoma are better.
Speaking during a live interview on West Fm Suala Nyeti Programme hosted by Robert Ilukol and Kandawala, Dr. Wamalwa promised citizens that his department is working per H.E Governor Lusaka’s manifesto of all the health centers across the County will be offering 24 hour services to the people. This intends to ensure that no lives are lost on the road while seeking medical services in the County.
“We are set to improve 26 dispensaries to health centres so that each ward has a health center so far 19 wards have health centers,” said Dr. Wekesa
The Heath boss outlined a number of plans that the department is putting in place to achieve the same. He said 3580 CHVs will be trained and given blood pressure, diabetes kits and smart phones that they will use to conduct and register the test then later furnish the department with the data. Those who are diagnosed with blood pressure and diabetes will be referred to Bungoma Referral hospital for medication. The CHVs will receive a stipend of ksh 4000 an increment of shs 2000 they were getting
Lusaka Care that was recently launched by Governor Lusaka will also see a boost to the health sector that intends to ensure that citizens are covered by the program, especially the vulnerable.
“The Governor wants his people to have the best of health services and as a responsible department we are doing everything possible to ensure that we help him achieve his dreams,” he added.
On matters GBV where Bungoma has been ranked among Counties with high numbers of GBV cases Dr. Wamalwa has advised citizens of Bungoma to avoid kangaroo courts and forward cases to the law courts for actions to be taken against perpetrators.
He also vowed to stay on high alert and take tough law measures on those who will be found guilty of theft of drugs in various government health facilities.
