Shanderema and Agoro Sare drew 1-1 in Pool A match as the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association games entered Day two in Kakamega.
Maxwell Wamalwa scored for Shaderema in the 37th minute before Geoffrey Omondi leveled in the 67th minute.
In another Pool ‘A’ fixture Kiragari bounced back from a 2-1 defeat to Agoro Sare on Tuesday to beat Khorof Harar from North Eastern 3-2.
The results left Shanderema and Agoro Sare tied on four points ahead of Thursday’s final pool matches while Kiragari sit third with three points.
Harar are last with zero points and have been eliminated from the championships.
Shanderema’s coach Kevin Asuba exuded confidence that they will top the pool after their last match.
“We were in a happy mood but that last-minute equalizer killed our spirit. However, we have a chance to redeem ourselves tomorrow,” Asuba said.
In Pool ‘B’ fixtures, St Anthony’s Kitale won 2-0 against Coast’s Serani boys while Dagoretti beat Matiliku 2-0.
In girls’ matches defending champions Wiyeta battled from a goal down to force a 1-1 draw against Madira girls from Western.
Edna Wanda scored for Wiyeta in the 85th minute to cancel out Valarie Nekesa’s 2nd-minute goal.
In another Pool ‘B’ fixture Lwak Girls from Nyanza region thrashed Mbitini from Eastern 4-1.
In Pool ‘A’, Dagoretti Nairobi defeated Njabini 2-1 in a highly contested battle while Butere humiliated Kombani 5-0.
In boys’ volleyball, new comers Andersen beat Ruthimitu 3- 0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-19), Furaha lost in straight set to Tumaini (8-25, 10-25, 9-25) while national finalists Namwela beat Vitengeni 3-1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-15, 25-22).
Tetu from Central beat Onjiko 3-1 (25-21, 25-21, 25-20, 25-22).
In girls’ volleyball, Kesogon from Rift Valley defeated Nyanza’s Nyakach 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-10), while African champions Kwanthanze beat Senior Chief in straight sets of 25-5, 25-2 and 25-3.
Soweto beat Vyambani 3-0 (11-25, 10-25, 14-25) as Mwitoti thrashed Karima in straight sets of (25-14, 25-13, 25-13).
