Farmers at Chepkoiywo area of Sitatunga Ward, Cherangany Constituency in Trans Nzoia County have attended a field day organized by Bazooka seed company with calls from farmers to embrace soil testing as well as purchase Bazooka seeds that was of high quality and disease resistant.
Farmers were taken through several lessons on how to better their farming activities with calls to purchase Bazooka seeds for them to realize maximum returns of their farming practices.
George Otieno who works for Wakala Africa Limited who are stewards of new Hybrid seed Bazooka together with Mike Kurgat Bazooka Agent for South Rift, Bomet, Kericho and Nakuru explained how farmers can use Bazooka seed in planting high yielding crops that do not easily get affected by pests as well diseases.
They called upon farmers also to embrace technological advancements in farming practices’, saying the produce takes 120-140 days to mature with altitude between 800-2000m above sea level and can adapt to several climatic challenges.
Otieno appealed to farmers to take the initiative of soil testing in order to realize the kind of fertilizer necessary for their produce.
Farmers led by the owner Joash Wanangoli appealed to their fellow farmers to invest in agribusiness by planting Bazooka seeds that have high yields as opposed to other seed crops.
They noted that they were ready to embrace Bazooka crops and they will plant the crops next season.
