The national football team Harambee Stars was defeated by one goal against South Sudan in a friendly match played on Tuesday afternoon at Kasarani International Stadium.
The visitors from South Sudan who showed a good game played and took the lead in the third minute of the match through the attacker who played professional soccer with the Police FC club, Tito Okello making good use of the mistake made by the defender Joseph Okumu and maintaining it until the final whistle.
Fans responded to President William Ruto’s call to turn out in large numbers to Cheer Harambee Stars but thousands of them were disappointed after the final whistle.
Kenya used the match to prepare themselves before starting the two qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup that will be played in November this year.
Tuesday’s defeat raises many questions in the Kenyan team and its preparation to qualify for the world cup after registering a 2-1 away victory against Qatar last Friday in Doha.
