Bungoma County health CECM Dr. Andrew Wamalwa has come out to regret an incident that was reported at Kimilili Sub County hospital where a new born baby who is alleged to have died was carried away by a stray dog.

Addressing the press in his office Dr. Wamalwa said it is disheartening to hear of such an incident saying the DCI department has taken up the matter for further investigations. He further said that if any staff will be found culpable of negligence then they will have to carry their own cross.

He sent his deepest sympathy to the family of the child saying such an incident has never been witnessed before. He gave an assurance making a follow up to understand what happened and deal with the issue optimally.

According to Phanice Imara, grandmother to the lost baby, her daughter delivered safely at the facility during the night but unfortunately the baby passed on, however on reaching the facility the following day to collect the body, she was denied entry to the facility with the reason that the issue was raising suspicions.

She added that she later came to discover that the body had mysteriously disappeared with claims that a stray dog had been seen to have carried it aw
