Youth Affairs and Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwambu has assured Kenyans that the Ministry has stabilized from the previous challenges that it was facing. CS Namwamba who retained his Ministry after President Ruto’s Cabinet reshuffle said there were a number of challenges that he inherited in the office which he has worked on among efforts that saw Kenya’s suspension by FIFA lifted.
Speaking on West FM Friday evening hosted by Robert Ilukol and Nickson Simiyu, The Cabinet Secretary said Kenya is set to host the AFCON 2027 which will be a boost for Kenya’s sports and economy.
“The preparations are ongoing in readiness for the AFCON 2027, the government is working on a stadium to host the match that will have a capacity of 60,000 people, a stadium which meets the FIFA required standards. We would also like to hear from Kenyans which match they would like us to host. Either the AFCON openings or the finale, they are all big,” said Namwamba
Namwamba also said that the government is improving other stadiums in the country in partnerships with County governments to ensure they are in good condition.
“I have talked to my good friend Governor Anyong’ Nyongo’ of Kisumu and Governor Barasa of Kakamega on how we can improve their stadiums, and I have called upon them to allow the technicians we are working with from CAF and FIFA to play role in the technical works.” He added
The Cabinet Secretary further said his Ministry is doing all it can to ensure that all sports through their federations will receive the full support for them to achieve their dreams. Rugby, football, aqua- sports, E-Sports, Volleyball, boxing, cycling and also Basket Ball will see NBA opening their offices in Nairobi next Month.

The CS also warned those who have made match fixing a trend with cases recently trending on social media that however much the economy of the country is struggling for stability we must have integrity in our matches.
Lastly, the CS said he would like to leave a legacy to be remembered of turning sports into an industry that will employ millions of young people and support their livelihoods in a respective and sustained manner
