Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has today launched the ‘Lusaka Cup’ aimed at cultivating and nurturing local football talents, and curb rising cases of teenage pregnancy in the County.
The tournament dubbed ‘Sakata boli, Epuka boli’ is the Governor’s brain child initiative, geared towards empowering the youth through sporting activities.
Lusaka noted, such tournaments will enhance productivity among the youth during the long festive season, and instill positive virtues among many.
“An idle mind is the devil’s workshop. We have initiated this tournament to keep our youths busy and reduce the surging numbers of teenage pregnancies among school going girls.” He stated.
He said, many youths engage in unproductive activities occasioned by lack of employment and therefore should be made aware through such campaigns.
“Youths are the future of this great Nation.Majority perishes because of lack of knowledge. We want to build their capacity through sports.” He observed.
The Lusaka Cup will be played annually, with competing teams rooted from all the 45 wards. Winners to bag grand prizes.
