Kenya football team crossed to finals of CECAFA under 18 after crushing Tanzania 4-3 through penalties on Tuesday afternoon.
This was after the two teams played the normal 90 minutes without bearing any goal from either side. They again proceeded to play 30 minutes extra time and no team got a chance to score a goal against its opponent.
The moment was clear for the two teams to go for penalty shootout. Ibrahim Wanzala was the hero of the moment as he saved two penalties to send the Junior Stars to the final of the ongoing CECAFA U18 Championships, beating Tanzania 4-3 on Tuesday afternoon.
The match proved tight in the first half, with both sides creating equal trials for large spells, although Tanzania did have three good chances to sail ahead.
Stars head coach Salim Babu opted to make a change after the break, subbing on Humphrey Aroko for Elly Owade at the break as he sought to find a way to get his side’s attacking play going.
With Kenyan side goal keeper heroic saves, they automatically qualify to the finals where they will battle it out with neighboring Uganda on Friday. Uganda qualified to the finals after beating Rwanda 1-0 in the semis.
The match that was played in Moi stadium Kisumu attracted thousands of football fans most of whom were supporters of Harambee stars under 18.
