About 225 2021 KCPE candidates from disadvantaged family have received secondary school scholarships from Equity bank.
The scholarship dubbed Elimu scholarship program is funded by Equity bank in conjunction with the national government. The event was held at ACK headquarters Bungoma where the Bungoma County Commissioner Samuel Kimiti presided over.
The program targets pupils who scored above 280 marks and whose parents cannot afford school fees and sustain them in secondary school.The pupils will have all their fees, pocket money, shopping and uniform paid for by the scholarship.
Speaking during the official commissioning of the program, Bungoma County Commissioner Samuel Kimiti thanked Equity bank for their kind gesture. He also challenged other corporate organizations and philanthropists in Bungoma County to come up with programs that support needy children.
He also used the opportunity to advise the beneficiaries of the scholarship to work hard in school in order to be better persons in future.
Furthermore, the County Commissioner encouraged citizens to maintain peace, harmony and unity before, during and after the August polls.
