Thousands of mourners, fans, friends including politicians and professional colleagues Saturday attended the late Millicent Khalechi Lumati burial at her home in Makhokho village, Idakho East ward, Ikolomani sub-county in Kakamega County.
The late Millicent Khalechi Lumati was mourned as a celebrated, distinguished journalist of high standing, strong moral character, and integrity by family, residents, and colleagues.
Speaking during the burial service, the late’s husband Stanley Lang’at said that she was a unifying factor in their family. He said that the late Millicent Lumati was a disciplinarian and a Christian who focused on bringing up her children the Christian way.
Langat said that he has lost a pillar that he had leaned on.
Her mother Wilfridah Khati said that she had lost a breadwinner explaining that Millicent had stepped into her husband’s shoes since he passed on five years ago.
Mama Khati revealed that the late had taken over all the family’s responsibilities and she was like a parent to her siblings.
Her daughter Maureen Miloya testified of her mother’s undying love for her, saying she always wanted the best out of her and thus did her best to ensure that she did everything the right way.
