Youth and women groups that benefitted from Bungoma County government loans have been called upon to repay the fund so as to enable other groups in the pipeline to benefit from the fund by starting different development projects.
Bungoma County deputy governor Hillary Chongwony while addressing powerhouse youth group in Kimilili Sub County said the initial plan of training groups before being given projects funds needs to be revisited so as to enable the groups to strategize well on repayment of the groups.
He said most of the groups that benefitted have underscored in terms of repayment of the funds saying many other groups that also applied are still awaiting to benefit saying they have to work extra hard to ensure they repay the loans.
Regarding the powerhouse youth group that has links with partners from Sweden, the deputy governor called upon them to be aggressive and creative so as to reap from their talents and efforts as youths to cater for their lives.
He pledged the support of the Bungoma County government in their planned projects together with partners from Sweden saying they are committed to ensuring that the youth and women groups flourish in their projects as they are the generation that the county and country will depend on soon.
The deputy governor also called upon them to support the current leadership of the County in its re-election bid during next year’s general election so as to finish up on the initial projects and to also spur other projects in the pipeline.
Mike Makokha one of the members of the groups said as a group they are planning to set up a football team that will be competing with other teams as a way of nurturing talents among the youths and called upon support from the County government.
He further said as a group they have also helped the less fortunate in the society to access education and they are currently helping one student at Kibabii University to further his education being a total orphan without help.
On his part, the group secretary Kevin Wamalwa called upon the County government to help them start up an ICT center for them saying with the current technological world they will be able to provide internet services and also be able to connect to the world.
