The County government of Bungoma through the Ministry of Health has set a side Kshs 4.5 million to purchase medical equipment that will be supplied to three health centers in Lwandanyi Ward, Sirisia Sub-County in a bid to improve health services.
The beneficiaries of the aid are Lwandanyi, Lwakhakha and Korosiondet health centers that will receive equipment worth Kshs 1.5 million each.
Speaking to the media in Lwakhakha, Lwandanyi ward MCA Tonny Khaoya Baraza said the funds were approved in a supplementary budget. “The money has been approved by the County assembly, therefore I would like to urge the chief officer to move with speed and advertise, I believe the equipment will be helpful in improving our people’s healthcare,” said Mr. Baraza.
He added that given his ward borders Uganda, the risk rate of recording Covid-19 cases is high since the number of transporters moving goods across the Lwakhakha border has increased.
However, he said there are many health facilities in a bad state that seriously require emergency help, giving an example of Malakisi and Machakha health centers which are in a poor condition.
On another hand, he appealed to Lwandanyi residents to adhere to the Ministry of Health directives, which includes washing hands regularly, wearing face masks while in public and maintaining social distance.
