A 31 year old man committed suicide over what is suspected to be family wrangles in Mapengo village, Chekalini location, Lugari Sub-County.
According to the deceased’s mother Mrs. Juliana Sirengo, his son Anthony Keya who was a security guard at Mapengo primary school has been having an unending feud with his wife since the two got married two months ago.
She said the deceased accused his wife of infidelity arguing that whenever he left for the night duty, the wife also left and spent the night away only to return very early in the morning.
Mrs. Sirengo said her efforts with other family members to intervene and ensure they lived in peace bore no fruit, leading her son to take his own life.
She said her daughter in law decided to pack her belongings and left an incident that left his son depressed before he decided to take poison.
“He secretly left to the nearby Lugari station market where he bought acaricide, took it and locked himself inside the house,” said the mother.
She said he was discovered by his young sister at noon while in critical condition, adding that efforts to save his life by rushing him to Koromait dispensary were futile as he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
His body was removed and taken to Kimbilio funeral home in the neighboring Uasin Gishu County as investigations were launched into the incident.
