A 34 year old man died after drowning in a borehole at Chaplaskei-Kaptapee township village in Tapsagoi location Turbo sub county, Uasin Gishu County.
According to Mr. Daniel Olekichoi, his brother-in-law Daniel Kiplimo was fetching water from the borehole owned by a local brewer before he slipped and fell in.
He said the deceased who was already drunk was begging for more liquor but he was told he couldn’t be given for free and was asked to fetch water in exchange for the local brew when the tragedy occurred.
He said efforts to rescue him were futile as it took more than an hour to get him out of the borehole when he had already died.
Officers from Turbo Riverside police station removed the body and took it to Chepkaka mortuary for postmortem as they launched investigations into the incident.
