Likuyani Sub County has continued to witness incidents of rape and
murder of women after a 75 year old granny was raped before being
killed in Namunyiri village Sinoko location.
Confirming the incident Sinoko location chief Mr. Simiyu Siakama said

morning.
According to the local administrator, the assailants gained entry into
the granny’s house after breaking the backdoor disclosing that the
deceased was living alone in the house.
Mr. Siakama said preliminary investigations shows that the old woman
was raped before being strangled to death adding that her body had
visible injuries.
A neighbour Mrs. Rose Amokola who was first to see the body said she
got concerned after a passerby informed her that he had seen the
granny’s door open early in the morning.
“There’s a man who passed near the granny’s house on his way to the
shop and saw the door open, when he informed me of it, I rushed there
to see whether the old mama was safe because she has been ailing and
she doesn’t wake up early but on entering the house I was shocked to
discover her lifeless body lying on the bed, the back door to the
house had been broken,” explained Mrs. Amokola who later informed other villagers and also alerted the area administration.
She said nobody knew when the incident happened since they never heard
any screams or commotion outside at night.
Police officer from Matunda removed the body and took it to Kitale sub
county hospital mortuary for postmortem as they launched investigation
into the incident.
