Hundreds of youths turned out at Amtalla stadium in Kimilili to try their luck in the Kenya Prisons Service police recruitment on Wednesday morning.
Superintendent Douglas Masubi the officer in charge of the exercise said they only needed one girl and four boys in the whole exercise saying they had to be critical in the whole selection exercise to ensure the process was fair and transparent to all the applicants.
He disclosed that among what they were looking for include being between the age f 18 and 28 as well as being physically fit saying among the applicants they had to choose the best and the most deserving youths to join the prison service.
However he called upon those who were unsuccessful not to give up in life as they have an opportunity of trying their luck again in future as other opportunities in various fields may come by for them and not necessarily in the Prison service only.
He further cautioned residents against giving out bribes to conmen/ women who may pretend to help them access opportunities for their children in the service saying the whole process is usually free of charge and should an such incident arise then it must be immediately be reported to the relevant authorities for them to deal with the culprits.
Superintended Masubi however thanked the people of Kimilili for maintaining order and calmness during the whole exercise saying there was no law breaking incidences witnessed during the whole exercise.
The residents on their part called upon the Police service to in future increase the slots for the youths to be selected saying many of them are jobless and were hopefuls to have had an opportunity of being selected to join the police service saying the slots of five per the whole Sub County was very minimal.
They further expressed their wish that the exercise should be carried out twice in a year so as to have enough officers in the police service to strengthen the security of the country.
