Plans are underway to recruit 50 more magistrates in a move aimed at dealing with the current case backlogs.
Speaking at the Kakamega law courts during her tour to inspect the observance of Covid-19 mitigation measures in the premises, the Judiciary Chief Registrar Anne Amadi said that, as part of the transformation process to enhance efficient service delivery during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Judiciary will be advertising 50 magistrate positions in a month’s time.
Amadi added that together with the judges who are soon expected to graduate, the judicial officers will go a long way to effectively reduce the age-old problem of the never-ending cases backlog in the courts.
During her tour, the registrar expressed confidence in the way people at the Kakamega law courts are observing the Covid-19 infection prevention measures as expected by the Ministry of Health.
She also observed that the construction of a new Court building in Kakamega is almost done, with only a few final touches remaining.
