59 people have tested positive for the Coronavirus in the last 24 hours, all Kenyans. The case load is now 4,797, while the total number of samples tested is 142,366. Health CAS Dr Mercy Mwangangi who was speaking to the press on Monday said 2 patients have succumbed as the fatalities rise to 125. However, 73 patients have recovered and have been discharged, with the recoveries now at 1,680.
Bungoma County has once again recorded another case, this time at Webuye. Nairobi said leads with new cases at 28-Dagoretti North 7, Kibra 5, Embakasi East 4, Embakasi North 3, Westlands 3, Embakasi West 2, Embakasi Central 2, Roysambu and Makadara 1 case each. Mombasa County has 21 cases, Kisauni has 8, Likoni 5, Mvita 3, Nyali 2, Changamwe 2, Jomvu 1. Kilifi County has 3 cases, with Kaloleni, Kilifi North and Kilifi South recording a case each. Kiambu County has been cases, one at Kiambaa and another case at Thika. Machakos County has one case at Athi river, Kisii one case at Bobari and Uasin Gishu one case at Turbo.
The Health CAS said the Health Ministry is working closely with various community based groups including NGOs, civil society organizations and other stakeholders to continue educating Kenyans on how to handle the virus. With the home based care protocols already released in order to ease the burden on health care systems, 59,000 trained community health volunteers have been deployed in all 47 Counties and have so far reached over 12 million households.
