Catholic Bishop Anthony Maurice Crowley has asked Kenyans to support
the government’s containment measures announced by President Uhuru
Kenyatta to impede escalating cases of COVID-19.
Speaking at the Mary Immaculate Cathedral, Bishop Crowley said the
measures that were spelled out in the Presidential address to Kenyans
are not a punishment as misconstrued.
He said the President’s move which has since stopped political
meetings are expected to curb the rapid spread of the Corona Virus
which has already dealt the nation a blow in matters economy which has
shrunk with thousands being laid off from employment.
He said the Catholic bishops are in full support of the immunization
exercise and urged all Christians to be given the Corona Virus
‘’ I wish to thank His Excellency, President Uhuru Kenyatta, for
taking a bold step imposing a dusk to dawn curfew and locking down 5
Counties to curb the rising number of cases in the affected Counties.
Politicians should accept to assist the government in fully adhering

The Bishop took a swipe to politicians now engaging in funeral politics by
accusing others claiming such behavior can lead to chaos calling them
to desist from making utterances that might plunge this country into anarchy.
He asked Christians in Kenya to observe the Corona virus protocols for
the country’s economic safety.
“We must not allow ourselves to be reading from the book of
lamentations each time the government announces containment measures
which we have flouted, lets us also pray for the leadership of this
country to provide enough vaccines to cater for all Kenyans ”, he
