One person died on the spot following a grisly accident that involved a tractor in Shinyalu village, Lumakanda location, Lugari Sub County.
According to Ms. Brenda Shivonekha who witnessed the accident, the tractor was passing on a village path near her house heading to collect construction materials before the driver lost control and started reversing towards her house which is in a valley.
The driver Kennedy Rubia dropped from the tractor as it approached her house and fell in the valley as the tractor rolled towards him and fell on him killing him on the spot.
Efforts by the residents led by Mr. Benson Kisomek managed to remove the body which had been trapped under the tractor.
“Am really saddened by the death of my colleague. When I heard of the accident I rushed here hoping to rescue him alive but unfortunately he is no more, ” said Mr. Kisomek.
Confirming the incident, Lumakanda location chief Celestine Asige termed it unfortunate, appealing to drivers to check and ensure their vehicles are in good condition before leaving their bosses or their compounds. This is after preliminary investigations showed that the tractor had mechanical problems prior to the accident.
The body was removed from the scene by officers from Lumakanda police station and taken to Kimbilio mortuary in the neighbouring Uasin Gishu County.
